Cat in the Hat Fruit Snack!

Here is another really simple and healthy idea for a Dr. Seuss school party or just for a fun after school snack for the kids!

Just slice some strawberries and bananas and pop them on a lollipop stick. Top with the end of a strawberry. How easy is that!

Dr. Seuss Hat Pops

Dr. Seuss is having a birthday on March 2nd so we thought it would be fun to make some Dr. Seuss Hat Pops! We have seen hat pops before made with sprinkles, frosting, color, etc... However, we wanted to make really easy no mess pops by using fruit roll ups. This is seriously the easiest pops you will ever make...so perfect for a preschool or kindergarten party! We made these Patriotic Pops for 4th of July last year the same way and we loved how easy they were to do and how they turned out!

All you need is 3 large marshmallows, 1 s'more (flat square) marshmallow, 1 red fruit roll up (walmart brand is good because it's sparkly), white decorating sugar (optinal), and a lollipop stick. Cut the square marshmallow into a circle with kitchen scissors. Dip that into the white sugar to make it sparkly and it covers up the ruff edges. Cut one large marshmallow in half. Put the stick in the square marshmallow first. Put on the marshmallow half. Put on the 2 regular marshmallows and then put on the other marshmallow half on top. It will look like this...

Just take your cherry fruit roll up strips and wrap them around the bottom, middle, and top. It will stick together in the back. Cut off 2 small pieces for the very top and then wrap around. It will look like this...

You can secure with frosting in between the marshmallows, but we didn't and they stayed put! Here is a close up...

Here is my 8 year old with his Dr. Seuss Pop! I found this hat in my house and have no idea where it came from, but it looks pretty cute!

Presidents Day Pancakes

I had totally forgotten about Presidents Day until the boys reminded me on Friday that they had off of school on Monday. We made these fun George Washington Pancakes yesterday morning and it was very easy and fun to make. The boys got a kick out of it!

We used pancake mix, whipped cream spray, and 1 dark grape.

We shaped our pancake mix in the pan on low heat into the shape of his face. Cut around the edges with kitchen scissors to clean it up when it's cooled off just a bit. Place on the plate. Make another pancake and cut the nose, lips, and eye lids out of that. Spray on the whipped cream for the hair and eyes. We cut the ends off of a dark grape for the pupils.

That's it! The kids will have fun making this as well and it's a fun way to talk about our history and George Washington!

Humpty Dumpty fell off a Sandwich!

We made this Humpty Dumpty Lunch back in August when my 5 year old started school. His Kindergarten class had a nursery rhyme parade and he wanted to be Humpty Dumpty. We had to come up with a costume using whatever we had at home. It was fun and we decided to make this lunch together the next day. We have also made Humpty Dumpty sat on a WALLffle and Humpty Dumpty sat on a S'mores that they really loved as well!

We used 2 pieces of bread, peanut butter and jelly, 1 large marshmallow, and 2 mini chocolate chips.

Make any kind of sandwich...we made pb&j. Cut off the crust to make a square. We cut our red apple in half. Peel off the top part of the apple so it looks like he is wearing pants. Use the scraps to make the arms, legs, and mouth. Make slits in the apple to push in the arms and legs. Attach the hands, feet, eyes, etc...with peanut butter. We cut a large marshmallow in half and cut around the edges for his eyes. We used 2 mini chocolate chips for the pupils. You could also use raisins.

We had lots of fun making this and it's pretty easy to do!

May the FRIJOLES Be With You!

Since our Star Wars May The DINNER COURSE Be With You that I made with the boys was such a hit with them, we decided to make a mexican Star Wars dinner. The boys thought it was the best and it's pretty easy to make!

We made a Storm Troopadilla, a Yodalicious Salad, and a side of refried Chewbacca.

We cut 2 small tortillas into the shape of a Storm Trooper head. Just look at mine for a quide. We melted cheese inside and decorated the face with black beans. We used shredded lettace and shaped it to make Yoda's head. We made the eyes with sour cream and black beans. We used lettuce to make the mouth and nose. We shaped Chewbacca using refried beans. We decorated his with sour cream and black beans.

If you have a little Star Wars fan at home that likes Mexican food...they will LOVE this! This might even get your little Star Wars fans that are not fond of Mexican food to actually eat it!

Love Lunch

We made this fun Love Lunch a few weeks ago and hope we got this posted in time if you want to make it today for Valentine's Day! Very simple and most kids will love that it's made with PB&J!

Just follow the directions from our Hugs and Kisses Lunch. The only thing different that we did was use strawberries instead of a apple. We just cut the tops of the strawberries to look like little hearts and then shaped them into a big heart.

Valentine Breakfast Ideas

I was looking through our pictures today and found some different Valentines Breafast that we have made in the last few weeks and thought I would share them in one post. All of them are very easy to do!

We made this toast with heart cut out and a egg fried in the middle several weeks back. Some people call this Egg's in a Nest, One Eyed Monsters, or Sunshine Eggs, etc... My kids do not like sunny side up at all (runny yolks gross them out) so I always break the yolk. Just cut out a heart shape with a cookie cutter, place the egg inside, and fry it in a pan. The result is a white heart..they loved it!

Here are a couple of Valentine Pancake ideas that we made one morning with pancakes, strawberries, and whipped cream spray. We made a really large pancake for the small hearts and cut the hearts out with cookie cutters. We made a large pancake for the other one and just cut out a heart with kitchen scissors...

We just made strawberry jelly hearts on our toast with this one...so easy!

Here are some Pop Tart hearts that we cut out with kitchen scissors. I purchased the cheap generic Pop Tart's by mistake so this would look better with regular Pop Tart's. Just something easy and fun for the kids...

Kitchen Fun and Crafty Friday Link Party #1 (with Puppy Love S'more Pops)!

We are so excited to be hosting our first link party! For those of you that are not familiar with link parties...this is the BEST way to get your creations out there for people to see them. I LOVE link parties and try to link up our goodies to as many as I can. We wanted to join in on the fun and have our own. We love seeing all of the creative talent out there and would be thrilled for you to link up to our party! Feel free to share with all of your blogging buddies!

We will be featuring our favorites the following week. Since this is our first party we have nothing to feature...so we are sharing these Puppy Love S'more Pops that we made last week. We know that there are a lot of you that are visiting us for the first time for the party and wanted to give you a look at the kind of things we make. We also make lots of fun dinners, snacks, lunches mostly for kids. We also will share recipes and some crafty things from time to time. Take a look around!

On to the Puppy S'more Pops...

We made these fun puppies using Graham Crackers, Pink Marshmallows, Chocolate Cookie Frosting, Candy Hearts, Mini Marshmallows, Mini Chocolate Chips, Red Cookie Frosting, and Lollipop Sticks.

We started out by cutting the graham crackers with a heart cookie cutter. We didn't break any...it will work great! We cut out 1 ear with kitchen scissors (another good thing to use) and used that as a guide to cut out the others. You could use a knife and that will work fine! Cut out a little tongue from scraps as well. Set your pieces down and pull out the frosting and marshmallows. The pieces will look like this...

We flipped our heart cut outs over and squeezed some chocolate cookie frosting on them. Cut the pink marshmallows in half and place on the frosting. Cut one of the marshmallow halves into a triangle to fit. It will look like this...

Place the lollipop stick in the middle of the marshmallows and into the triangle marshmallow. Squeeze a little frosting around it to secure. Squeeze frosting on the other heart and place on the top.

Now for the face and ears. We decided to make spots on the ears. You could just leave them as well. Cut 1 mini marshmallow in half for the eyes. Use the mini chocolate chips for the pupils. Make the mouth and attach the heart candy nose with cookie frosting. We squeezed red cookie frosting on the tongue cut out and pressed that on underneath. Attach the ears on with frosting and let everything dry. This really is easy to do and we loved how they turned out!

Star Wars Valentine's...Our Homemade Versions!

I am so excited to be sharing our Star Wars Valentine's that we came up with this week. We wanted to make them unique from others that we have seen and I think they turned out so cute! I gave our ideas to my brother Brian and he put it all together...thanks Brian! I just LOVE how they turned out! My 5 year old will be giving these out to his class and he thinks they are awesome!

For the Yoda one we thought that replacing Day Go By with DAGOBAH (his planet) would be cute. My husband Josh thought of this one. I have seen other Yoda Valentines in stores with Yoda One For Me and thought that was adorable...so we just had to add that. We included his DAGOBAH planet in his thinking bubble...kinda has two meanings. This one is my fav! He will be giving these out to the little girls in his class. We will be adding green candy on the back.

I came up with this Chewbacca saying I Chewy You To Be My Valentine...thought the kids would dig that! My 5 year old will be giving this one to the girls as well. We are adding either Tootsie Rolls (somethine chewy) on the back or attach this with our Chewy Wookiee Cookies that we made awhile back. We just can't decide. They look like this...

My husband Josh came up with this Droid one as well. This is the scene where the trooper is saying to Luke...You are not the droid we have been looking for. We just took out the NOT and thought this would be cute to give to the boys in his class.

Valentine Love Mix

We made this Love Mix for Valentine's Day and my kids loved it! We noticed that Quaker makes cereal in the shape of hearts and thought it would be cute mixed with pretzels and other goodies.

For the first one we used Quaker heart cereal, pretzels, peanuts, Valentine M&M's, and alphabet crackers. We had the Kroger brand alphabet crackers (like animal crackers) and we picked out all of the X's and O's. We mixed everything else and we think it looked pretty cute!

For this one we just left out the X's and O's and replaced them with strawberry wafers to give it some more color. Either way is cute...just use what you have! You could also add melted white chocolate and mini candy hearts for a dessert. This is just something easy and fun for the kids to snack on!

Puppy Love Pot Pies

My boys have never been a fan of chicken pot pies and I try to find creative ways to make it fun for them to eat it. It really works on my 5 year old. My 8 year old can not stand carrots and peas so is not thrilled with a pot pie no matter what it looks like! At least this works on one of my kids and I think these Puppy Love Pot Pies turned out SO cute! In fact, this has to be one of my favorites out of all of the things we have made. Also, this is THE BEST chicken pot pie recipe that I have ever made and i have made a lot of them.

This is very easy to do and will only take about 5 to 10 minutes extra to make the puppy face. My 5 year old LOVED it and woofed the whole thing up within minutes which is amazing for him.

We made Piggy Pot Pies back in July and a better description of the recipe is on that post if you need one or just want to check them out.

PUPPY LOVE POT PIES

Ingredients

1 pound bag of frozen cubed chicken, thawed

1 cup chopped carrots

1/2 cup frozen green peas, with a 8 set aside

1/2 cup sliced celery

1/3 cup butter

1/3 cup chopped onion

1/3 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 teaspoon celery seed

1 can of chicken broth

2/3 cup milk

2 (9 inch) unbaked pie crusts

Directions...

Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C.)

Chop up your celery and carrots. Put your chopped veggies, peas, and diced chicken in a large pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil for 15 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside. Save about 8 carrot slices and 8 peas for the puppy face.

Roll out your pie crust. We used 4 (6oz) souffle dishes. Place the souffle dish on the crust and cut a circle with a inch or so beyond the dish.Place the bottom crust in the dish and press on the bottom and sides. There should be some of it sticking out around the top. Save the pie dough scraps to make the face and ears. In the saucepan over medium heat, cook onions in butter until soft. Stir in flour, salt, pepper, and celery seed. Slowly stir in chicken broth and milk. Simmer over medium-low heat until thick. Remove from heat.

Place the chicken mixture in bottom pie crusts and pour the flour/milk mixture over the top.

Cover with the top crust, seal edges, and cut away excess dough. Press down on the sides a bit to prevent any of the mixture from coming out. We pinched ours to make it look like puppy hair. We made 2 small holes in the top where the eyes would go and the nose to allow steam to escape. Here is what the filled pot pie should look like with the top on and off...

Roll out the dough scraps and cut out 4 smaller circles for the nose. Cut out 1 ear and use that as a guide to cut out the rest. Poke a few holes on each side of the nose cut out and cut a slit down the middle. Place the saved carrots on for the nose and tongue. You could also cut a heart out of the carrot for the nose (I thought of that after we already made them). Put on the peas for the eyes and place the nose cut out on the face. Press on the ears. Some will hang off the side.

Bake in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until pastry is golden brown and filling is bubbly. We did cover ours with foil in the middle of baking to prevent over browning.

We hope that you love them as much as we did...WOOF WOOF!

Hugs and Kisses Lunch

We made this Valentine Lunch the other day and it's such a fun way to let your little ones know how much you love them! Plus...they get pb&j (my boys favorite)!

This is very simple to make. All you need is 2 slices of bread, peanut butter & strawberry jelly, a couple of corn tortillas, and 1 red apple.

We cut our bread into the shape of lips with kitchen scissors. Cut one of them and use that one as a guide for the other piece. Spread peanut butter on the inside and the jelly on the outside. Cut a slit down the middle.

Cut the apple in half and scoop out the seeds in the middle. Cut around the edges with a knife into a heart shape.

Pre-heat the oven to 350. Cut out the X and O shapes from the tortillas. We used round cookie cutters to make our O's and cut the X's by hand. Cut out one and use that for a guide for the rest. Place the shapes on a cookie sheet and spray with cooking spray. Sprinkle with kosher salt. Bake for about 8 minutes or so...just until lightly golden.

You could also add a chocolate kiss on the plate...we just didn't have any.

Football Pita Pizzas

We made these Personal Pizza Footballs tonight and thought they turned out really good! These would be perfect for a Superbowl party! One of my boys wanted pepperoni and the other wanted sausage. This way you can see what they both would look like. These are SO easy to make and can be made ahead of time. Who wouldn't want their own personal football pizza during the Superbowl!!

We used pita bread, marinara sauce, mozzarella cheese shredded and sliced cheese, Morning Star sausage crumbles, and turkey pepperoni.

Set the oven to 350. Cut the pita bread into football shapes with kitchen scissors. Spread on the sauce and sprinkle with the cheese. Cover with the pepperoni or sausage. We cut sliced cheese to make the laces. You could also just use shredded...it just might not look as clean. Bake for 10 minutes or so until the cheese starts to melt.

You can make these ahead of time. Just pop them in the fridge and take them out when you are ready to bake. How easy is that and my boys think they look awesome!

A Groundhog Fruit Snack!

Groundhog Day is just around the corner (Feb.2) and we have seen a lot of super cute Groundhog cookies and cakes that people have shared this year...along with our Groundhog Desserts that we made a couple of weeks back. I wanted to share a healthy one and I made this for my boys today for a after school snack. I am sure they will love it!

It's SO easy and all you will need is 1 pear, dark grapes, and green grapes.

Wash the fruit and cut the top of the pear off. Place the pear cut side down on the plate. Cut the grapes in half. Place the dark grapes around the pear to look like a hole. Place the green grapes around the dark grapes to look like grass. Make the face details and ears using the pear scraps that you cut off. Everything will just stick on! I did cut a slit for the mouth and pushed in the teeth.

Conversation Pie Pops!

I remembered seeing some Pie Pops awhile back from Luxirare and we thought it would be cute to make Cherry Heart Pie Pops for Valentine's Day using the same method as her round pops. It's very simple to do!

You will need Pillsbury pie crust, cherry pie filling, lollipop sticks, 1 egg white, pink sugar, and, red or pink decorating frosting.

We first rolled out our pie crust and cut out hearts with a heart cookie cutter...

We got 13 hearts from 1 pie crust....so you would have 13 pops if you used 2 pie crusts. You could get more heart pops if you used a smaller cutter. We placed 6 of the heart cut outs on a lightly sprayed cookie sheet. Press the lollipop stick in the middle. We took the easy way out and just used premade cherry pie filling. Spoon on just a small amount in the middle like this...

Make sure not to use too much juice...just a couple of cherries and a small amount of the juice. Lay the other heart cut outs on top and press the edges with the end of a lollipop stick to seal the edges like this...

Brush the tops with egg white and sprinkle with pink or red sugar. Bake at 375 for about 10 minutes or until lightly golden like this...

We decided to write Sweetie Pie and Cutie Pie on our hearts to make them look like the Conversation Candy Hearts. You could also spray them with edible color spray to make the colors stand out more. My boys gave these fun Pie Pops to their little girlfriends and they loved them!

I had the best time making these with my youngest 1 year old. We had so much fun and he was so excited to see his finished pop! I even let him eat a little bit of the crust. He was so excited!!

Valentine Spaghetti

We had fun with our spaghetti last week and made hearts out of it for Valentine's Day. My kids LOVE spaghetti...it's their favorite. My boys were extremely hungry the night we made this so we did this very quickly! I think we spent like 5 minutes making this...it's so easy to do!

We used whole wheat spaghetti noodles, spaghetti sauce, & 2 bread sticks. Just boil the noodles, make the sauce, and bake some bread sticks. Shape the noodles on the plate into a heart. Put the sauce on top. Cut the ends off of 2 bread sticks at a angle and make the arrow out of that. Just use our picture as a guide. We wrote I love you on top with noodles. It's a fun way to write something sweet to your little ones for dinner.

The writing would stand out a bit more if you used regular spaghetti instead of whole wheat. Whole wheat pasta and breads are all we ever have in this house. Another idea is to write something with parmesan or mozzarella cheese. You could also do this with any kind pasta noodles.

My boys were thrilled with this fun dinner and I am sure we will be making this regularly!

Superbowl Breakfast

My 8 year old came up with this fun Superbowl Football Breakfast with a NY Giant Goal and a couple of Patriot Pancakes..heehee! We made this by using 2 eggs, pancake mix, whipped cream spray, & green grapes.

We beat 2 eggs and poured them in a pan on med. low heat. Cook them like a omelette. Let that cool and set aside. Pour the pancake mix in the pan and make a couple of med. sized pancakes. Let them cool off just a bit and cut the edges to make the football with kitchen scissors. Cut out a goal from the eggs with kitchen scissors and place on the plate. Place the footballs on the bottom. Cut a hand full of green grapes in half for the grass. Spray on the whipped cream to make the football laces.

Very easy to do and the kids will have fun making this one. My 8 year old did and I think his idea turned out awesome!

Cat and Mouse Valentine Cookies

We came up with these fun Cat and Mouse Heart Cookies last year for Valentines's Day before we had started a blog. I was going to say sorry for the bad picture, but my pictures are not that much better now.ha I do try to get a decent shot before my kids are grabbing the plate out of my hand to dive in! I am sharing for the idea and I am sure you could make them look a lot better...I had helping little hands that day.

We made these by using different shaped heart cookie cutters, cookie frosting, 2 pink Starburst, 1 red Twizzler string, heart candies, chow mein noodles, and a sugar cookie recipe.

Make your favorate sugar cookie recipe and cut it out with a small heart cookie cutter and a large heart cutter. Just place the small one on the big one to make sure it will fit for the ears. Bake the cookies and let them cool. Frost them with your favorite cookie frosting recipe or just make it easy and get the Betty Crocker cookie frosting.

We put a couple of pink Starburst in the microwave for 8 seconds and then flattened them with a small roller. We cut out a tongue and the ears for the cat. We decorated both of the faces with heart candies. We used chow mein noodles for the whiskers. We rolled up a Twizzler string for the tail. We attached red cookie frosting in different areas for the tail to stay put!

My boys LOVED these and they were so fun to make with them!

Groundhog Day Desserts

We made a couple of fun Groundhogs Day Desserts last night and we thought they turned out super cute!

For this one we used chocolate pudding, 3 vanilla wafers, edible eyes, choclate cookie frosting, whipped cream spray, 1 chocolate chip and 1 mini marshmallow. We spread our chocolate pudding on a small plate. We decorated 1 vanilla wafer with the edible eyes, chocolate chip for the nose, and cut a mini marshmallow for the teeth. We cut up 1 vanilla wafer to make the ears and feet. We used kitchen scissors and that worked out great! We attached everything with Betty Crocker cookie frosting. We put a little pudding in between the 2 wafers and put the Groundhog on top of the pudding. We did crush just a small amount of 1 oreo half and sprinkled that on top of the pudding to look like dirt. We squirted on the whipped cream around the pudding and put a little bit on his head to look like snow. Place on the feet and then your done!

For this one we just used a little ramekin dish. Spoon in the pudding and place the Groundhog on top using the directions above.

You could also just use one of those premade pudding cups and make the Groundhog to go on top. Get the kids in the kitchen to help with it so they can have some fun!

It's a Groundhog Lunch!

I thought we had shared this Groundhog Lunch awhile back, but I couldn't find it. What a perfect time to share it when it's just a couple of weeks before Groundhogs Day!

We made this lunch using 3 pieces dark german wheat bread, peanut butter & jelly, 1 banana, 1 dark grape (or raisins), and edible grass (you could use lettuce or grapes,etc...).

We just cut our bread with kitchen scissors in a head shape. Cut the other piece the same using the first piece as a guide. We used a extra piece of bread to make feet. Spread peanut butter and jelly in between or turkey and cheese. Decorate the face by cutting 1 dark grape for the nose and cut a banana for the teeth and eyes. We use bread scraps to make the pupils and whiskers. We happened to have edible grass, but you could use lettuce, green or dark grapes etc...to put around him.

Valentine S'more Pops

Most of you that have been following our blog for awhile know how my kids just LOVE s'more pops...we make a lot of them! We thought it would be fun to make Valentine S'mores using a heart cookie cutter.

For our love pops we used graham crackers, pink large and small marshmallows, red and chocolate cookie frosting, and lollipop sticks.

We first found a cookie cutter to fit onto a graham cracker square. We cut out 2 heart shapes...

Then cut the large pink marshmallows in half with kitchen scissors. We squeezed our Betty Crocker chocolate cookie frosting on the inside of the heart cut out. Place 3 marshmallow halves on the frosting. Squeeze the frosting on the other heart cut out and place on top. Let it dry. Push the lollipop stick through the marhmallows when they are completely dry.

We decorated one of them by cutting small pink marshmallows and attaching them with frosting around the edges of the heart. We used red cookie frosting for the other one and cut out a arrow from the graham cracker scraps.

Here are my little sweethearts with their Love Pops!

There are so many ways you could decorate these. You could also write Be Mine, etc...with chocolate, decorate with mini chocolate chips, or even spray them with red or pink color spray. Just use what you have and let the kids have fun making their own!

A Snowman Breakfast

Here is another fun way to make a Snowman for Breakfast! My kids loved our Frosty the Snowman Breakfast using eggs and pancakes so we changed this one up by using a english muffin, cream cheese, turkey bacon, raisins, and bananas.

We cut our english muffin in half and spread on cream cheese. We cut 2 pieces of turkey bacon with kitchen scissors to make the hat and scarf. We used raisins to decorate the face and for buttons. A small piece of clementine for the nose. We sliced bananas for snow and that is it!

This is so easy to make and the kids will love it!

Down...Set...DIP!

We made this fun Football 7 Layer Dip last weekend and thought we would go ahead and share it today since we are watching the play offs. We are actually taking a break watching it since my wonderful cable company decided to do maintance during a play off game! UGH!! How could they!! Anyways, the good news is that it gives me time to share some fun food!

We made this dip by layering lettuce on the bottom, salsa, tomatoes, shredded cheese, sour cream, avocados, and refried beans (mixed with a package of taco seasoning). We piped on sour cream on the top to make the laces.

We happened to have a football bowl, but you could just use a round plate and shape a football on that. Just put the shredded lettuce around it and that would look just as good!

May The DINNER COURSE Be With You!

We had left overs for dinner last night and everyone got something different. My 5 year old wanted a left over hot dog and asked if I could make him a Star Wars dinner. I said sure..why not! We decided to make Chewbacca, Yoda, and a Storm Trooper. This is what we came up with and it turned out pretty cute! He thought it was awesome!!

To make the Chewy Dogs we used a hot dog bun, a turkey hot dog, white cheese, and barbecue sauce (you could use ketchup). Just make the hot dog, put it in the bun then flip it to the side. Cut out the bottom middle to make legs and use the scraps to make the arms. We squirted on just a little bit of sauce to make the face and band. We cut a couple of strips from a cheese slice to design the band and the teeth for his mouth.

To make this Yodalicious Salad you will need lettuce, white cheese (or ranch dressing), and 1 raisin. Just shape the torn lettuce in the shape of Yoda's head. Cut 2 small pieces of the white cheese to make the eyes. Cut a raisin in half and press on the cheese for the pupil. We cut out another small piece of lettuce to make eye lids, a nose, and a mouth. A fun way to get kids to eat some salad! Yoda says...mmmm, yummy salad this is indeed!

We made the Storm Taters by shaping our mashed potatoes in the shape of a Storm Troopers head. We used raisins for details. You could also use black olives.

This is a such a fun and very easy dinner to make for your little Star Wars fan. My boys love to turn anything in Star Wars..they are total Star Wars fanatics!

Heart Pita Pizzas

We made these fun Love Pizza's out of pita bread a couple weeks ago and we loved how they turned out! There are so many ways you could decorate these. They were the perfect size for my 5 and 8 year old! These would be fun for the kids to decorate on their own or surprise them with a special message on a pizza heart for a Valentine's dinner!

We used whole wheat pitas, marinara sauce, mozzerella cheese, turkey pepperoni, and sliced black olives.

We cut a heart shape from the pita bread with kitchen scissors. Spread the marinara sauce (or pizza sauce) on top. Sprinkle with mozzerella cheese. We cut heart shapes out of our turkey pepperoni on one. You could also cut out hearts from a red bell pepper. We cut out small circles from the pepperoni with a cookie cutter that we have for the other one and wrote BE MINE with the sliced black olives. You could also write something with the shredded cheese, green peppers, or sausage. Just be creative and use what you have!

Bake at 350 for about 10 minutes or until cheese is melted. This is so easy and the kids will love it!

Touchdown Football Pops!

I have decided to take a break from watching our Falcon's team loose to NYG. It's getting pretty bad. However, we did make these really cute touchdown pops yesterday and my boys just loved them!

Here is what you need...

Popsicle/Craft Sticks
1 Chocolate Cake Mix
1 Can of Chocolate Frosting
Chocolate Candy Coating
Betty Crocker White Cookie Frosting
Yellow Edible Marker (unless you have yellow sticks)

We were going to just make Football Cake Pops on a lollipop stick, but thought that would be a bit boring. We decided to make goals out of popsicle sticks! I think stores sell yellow sticks, but we just colored the front side of ours with yellow edible marker. We used 3 sticks to make 1 pop. We cut one of the sticks in half with scissors. We colored one side of them and glued them together to make the goal. Leave just a little bit of the stick poking out of the top to stick the football cake on.

We made our Football Cake Pops by baking 1 chocolate cake mix using the box directions. Let that cool. Scoop out half of it in a bowl. We baked a 9x13 cake, but scoop out the whole thing if you bake a 8x8. Break the cake into tiny crumbs with a fork or just mix with a mini chopper. Mix about half of a can of chocolate frosting with the cake crumbles until moist enough to form the footballs. Here is what our footballs looked like...

Melt the chocolate coating in the microwave 1 minute..then every 20 seconds until melted. Dip the tip of the middle stick of the goal in the chocolate. Press a football on stick and spoon on the chocolate to coat the whole football. Place on waxed paper to dry.

When the footballs are dry... pipe on white icing to make the stripes and laces. We used Betty Crocker white cookie frosting and it worked well.

Now that we have dealt with a horrible loss today to the Giants, we have switched gears to the New Orleans Saints. They deserve to win the Super Bowl for how they have been playing. Who dat!

As some of you may know already my husband Josh owns a Hot Rod shop here in Marietta, GA. They build pre-1950's cars from the ground up. He has also built several vintage motorcycles. He has been featured in several magazines here in the US and all over the world. One of them is called Kustom Magazine from France. I discovered that the editor Charlie makes these awesome retro gingerbread houses. It's nice to see a hot rodder get in the kitchen and bake!:) I love how unique they are and the retro look. Here is one of them!

A Snowman Lunch!

We came up with this Snowman Lunch today and my 5 year old agreed that this is the cutest lunch that we have ever made! Which is surprising he said that for all the fun stuff that we make and that it does not include his favorite...peanut butter and jelly!

We used 2 pieces of whole wheat bread, sliced deli turkey, sliced provolone cheese, raisins, 1 mini carrot, and low fat cottage cheese.

We used a round cookie cutter to cut out the bread, cheese, and turkey. If you do not have that just cut out a circle from one of the bread slices and use that as a guide for the cheese and turkey. Place the bread on the plate and top with the turkey and cheese. Cut just a bit off the top of the head for the hat.

We decided to use raisins to decorate our snowman, but you could also use dark grapes. We used cottage cheese for the snow on the bottom. We cut a small carrot and attached that on the face with just a small amount of cottage cheese. You could also just make a hole and just poke that in as well.

We used pretzel sticks for the arms and pressed 3 raisins together for the mittens. We used turkey scraps to make the scarf.

We rarely get snow here in Atlanta to make real snowmen, but we had just about as much fun making this one!

This Valentine's Dinner Will Make Your Heart BEET!

Yeah I know...make your heart BEET!heehee We are pretty corny in this house!

We are already thinking Valentine's over here and we made this fun Heart Dinner last night. My boys have never tried beets before and I thought this would be the perfect thing to get them to try it. I got pickled beets and probably should have started out with regular beets. They love pickles and I told them the beets were red pickles thinking that would trick them a bit. They LOVED the way the dinner looked, but did not love the beets. However, the good news is that they did not hate them! They ate half of them...that is good! This presentation at least got them to try it!

We used sliced canned beets and cut out hearts with a small heart cookie cutter. Super easy!

We made hot dogs and cut them at a angle in the middle to make the heart shape. We love this Turkey Sausage w/Cheddar from Johnsonville...so good! We used some beet scraps to make the arrow and attached it with tooth picks into the hot dog bun.

We made diced potatoes and shaped them into a heart. We added ketchup on top to make it red. You could use tater tots,etc...

This is just something fun we came up with using what we had on hand. We hope that you LOVE our dinner as much as we loved making it!!

It's a Boot Lunch...Yee Haw!

We hope that all of you had a great New Years day! I have been updating a few things on our blog today. We are on Pinterest now and added the Follow Me button on the right side. We also just added a About Us page at the top.

I was going through some of our creations and came across this Boot Lunch that we made a long time ago. I just forgot to post it. My then 4 year old just loved this lunch!

We used 2 pieces of whole wheat bread, peanut butter & strawberry jelly, & 1 slice of american cheese. We just cut out a boot shape from our bread. Make one side of the rounded top of the bread the bottom of the boot. Spread peanut butter in between the slices. We added our jelly on the top to make a design on the boot. You could just put the jelly inside and cut out a fruit roll up or use strawberries, etc... Use the crust scraps to make the heel and other details. We cut out a star from the cheese to make the boot spurs.

A super easy lunch to make for your little cowboy!

Kitchen Fun Favorites from 2011...Happy New Year!

We thought it would be fun to look back on some of the creations that we have made this past year and post 11 of our favorites along with some of the most viewed! We hope that all of you are having a wonderful New Year's Day and we are excited to create and share lots of fun food in 2012! Thanks to all of you who have shared our creations and followed our blog. We have had a lot of fun with it!

This is our I Scream for Grilled Cheese that we made back in July. We made this for lunch, but this is also fun to make with a waffle or toast for breakfast as well!

We made this Bert and Ernie Fruit Snack back in June and my boys thought it was so funny! A great way to get the little picky eaters to eat fruit!

We made these Phineas and Ferb Cakes from left over pound cake back in March when we started the blog. My boys love that show and we had so much fun making this!

These Sloppy UFO's another one we shared when we started our blog back in March. My middle son would never eat sloppy joe's until we made them into UFO's with grape aliens!

All of the Star Wars geeks out there can appreciate my 5 year old choice of birthday cake. He is a Star Wars fanatic insisted on a Garbage Masher Cake from the original Star Wars movie. That is his favorite scene. This is what we came up with and we also listed lots of other unique Star Wars party food from his party here...

We are huge Atlanta Falcon's football fans and my boys loved this Quarter Back Snack that we made after school one day...

We made this Charlie Brown Breakfast using eggs and pancakes back in August. It's very easy to make and my kids loved it!

We made this Spider Man Speghetti back in April and the boys thought it was awesome!

We made these Morning Monkey Pancakes for breafast back in May. Another super easy breakfast that turned out so cute!

This is a fun Angry Bird Lunch that we did back in August...

We love how this Winnie the Pooh Pancake Breakfast that we made turned out...

I have had so much fun looking back on our collection of goodies today. These are special times and memories with my little boys that I will always cherish! We hope that you have had fun looking at our fun food this past year as we have had making them!

New Year's Midnight Oreo Pops!

We thought it would fun to make little midnight clocks out of oreo's for New years! Ours are a little sloppy from the kids running around and being a bit wild while making these so most of you could do a lot better.

We used oreo cookies, white candy coating, chocolate candy coating (or chocolate chips), lollipop sticks, and chocolate sprinkles.

Open the oreos and cut out just a slice of the cream to put in the stick. We secured with cookie frosting.

We melted just a couple of bars of the chocolate first in the microwave (or a cup of chocolate chips). Put the melted chocolate in a baggie and snip off the corner. Pipe 2012 onto wax paper like this...

Let that dry. Melt the white chocolate coating in the microwave and dip the oreos in it. Place onto wax paper. Use chocolate sprinkles to make the clock before it dries. Place the 2012 numbers on the top while the chocolate is still soft. Let it dry and that is it!

These are so easy to make and the boys loved them!

Here is my youngest with his. He only got to eat the number 2, but he was happy with that!

New Years Dinner for Kids!

We made this fun Midnight Clock Quesadilla for New Years and the kids thought it turned out so cool! We used 2 tortillas, shredded cheese, black beans, sour cream, and a small piece of a yellow pepper.

Sprinkle cheese in between the tortillas and heat it up in a pan or microwave. Heat up a small bowl of black beans and decorate the clock with them. Put a small amount of sour cream in a baggie and snip off just a tad on the corner to pipe on the words. We had a small star cookie cutter and cut out the stars with that from the yellow pepper. There are so many ways to decorate this. You could use different colored peppers and tomatoes to make fire works,etc...

Let the kids make their own...they might surprise you with how creative they can be!

Star Wars Gingerbread Men

We hope that all of you had a wonder Christmas! My little boys wanted to make cookies on Christmas Eve for Santa and came up with these Star Wars Gingerbread Cookies. They created them all by themselves! I just love the Jawa's they made!ha They will turn anything into Star Wars...anything! I love their idea and thought some of you might enjoy them as well. They did have other characters from the movie, but I picked out the best ones. Santa loved all of them! Great job boys!

A couple of Christmas Dinners for Kids!

We made a couple of fun Christmas dinners and wanted to share them with you!

The first one is this Reindeer, Snowman, and Christmas Tree dinner. It's so easy! The reindeer is a burger with large pretzels for the antlers, tomato for the nose, and edible eyes. The tree is string green beans, tomato for the garland, and a yellow pepper for the star (you could use pineapple). The snowman is mashed potatoes, a carrot for the nose, and raisins for the mouth and eyes. My boys loved this and it's so simple to make!

This is our Christmas Tree Quesadilla! We just used 2 spinach tortillas, cheese, and peppers for the ornaments and star. We cut the tortillas with kitchen scissors to make the tree. Sprinkle with cheese and fry it up or melt in the microwave. The trunk is black beans. You could use fruit to decorate as well!

North Pole Cupcakes & Peppermint Popcorn

We spotted these North Pole cupcakes and just loved them! I made them for my 5 year olds kindergarten class party. They are so easy to make and just look so cute! This is not our idea and I am not sure who originally came up with this, but I did first see them on One Charming Party.

We used white cupcake liners, strawberry cupcakes, white frosting, white decorating sugar for the top, candy canes (with the tops broken off), and red candies. Make your own North Pole sign or go to the One Charming Party link to get their free printable.

This Peppermint Popcorn is something else that we made that I could sit around and eat all day long! We spotted this one of Skip To My Lou. It's so easy. Just a cup of crushed peppermint mixed with 16 oz of white chocolate (or bark). Mix 1/2 a cup of crushed peppermints with 2 regular popped bags of pop corn (or 4 qts). Sprinkle with the rest of the crushed peppermint. It's SO good and great to give away for last minute Christmas goodies!

O Honeydew O Honeydew, Thy Fruit I am Arranging!

My 8 year old is having his Christmas class party tomorrow and it is first thing in the morning. It will be a breakfast type of thing and we were assigned to bring fruit. Green grapes were already snatched up by someone else so we were a bit limited on how creative we could be and make it simple. We ended up with this honeydew tree and we are pleased with how cute it turned out. I just can never be ok with dropping off a bag of fruit, but that's just me!

We used 1 honeydew melon, maraschino cherries, 1 pineapple slice from a can, and just a few dark grapes. We were just going to use a 9x13 tray and cut up strawberries for the background around the tree. However, we found these tree trays at Kroger on clearence and it worked out perfect!

We cut our honeydew into squares and just layered them on the tree tray. We cut 1 pineapple slice to look like a star on top. We cut the cherries in half and lined them up to look like garland. We put a few dark grapes at the bottom for the tree trunk.

How easy is that! Green grapes would look pretty on this as well!

Away in a Manger Breakfast!

My boys really wanted to make something with baby Jesus so we decided to make this manger scene breakfast. We used pancakes, 1 egg, a couple of chocolate Puffins cereal (you could use bacon), chex cereal (or you could use shredded wheat).

We just shaped our pancakes in the shape of a barn in the pan. Cut off the edges to clean it up with kitchen scissors. Cut out the opening in the middle. We beat 1 egg and poured it in our pan. Make it like a omelette. We used a star cookie cutter to make the shining star. We used the scraps to make a blanket for baby Jesus. We used 2 square Puffins cereal for the manger (or bacon) and broke up some Chex cereal for the hay.

Use what you have and it's super easy to make! A fun breakfast to make with the kids and a great way to talk with them about the true meaning of Christmas!

Easy Christmas Goodies

We have been baking like crazy the last couple of days and needed a couple of super easy goodies to throw in the mix for kids. We made these cute little treats and wanted to share them with you. We just used what we had. They are so easy to make!

We made these Snowmen with pre made chocolate covered oreos. We attached regular and mini chocolate chips on the face with cookie frosting. We used orange cookie frosting for the nose. We broke a regular oreo in half and scraped off the cream. Cut one in half and cut the other one in a square with a knife. Attach it on the top with chocolate cookie frosting.

We took a easy short cut with these gift goodies and bought pre made rice krispie treats with holiday colors. We just tied red and green Twizzler pull a part strips around them and tied a bow on top.

Just a couple of last minute ideas!

This is just some of our Christmas goodies that we baked to give out. Lots of work, but lots of fun!!

Fruit Candy Canes

We made these Fruit Candy Canes a couple of weeks ago and I totally forgot about it until I noticed this apple candy cane posted by the Queen of Pancakes Jenni Price Illustration....

We made ours by cutting a few strawberries and 1 banana. Just rotate them in the candy cane shape and that is it. You just can't get any easier than that!

Christmas S'mores Boy & Girl Pops!

My s'mores fanatic boys wanted to come up with another s'mores pop for Christmas. We decided to make Christmas boys and girls out of s'mores to look like gingerbread men cookies. It's just a lot easier because there is no baking involved!

We used graham crackers, marshmallows (the s'mores square marshmallows), white and chocolate cookie frosting (Betty Crocker), red candies, lollipop sticks, and edible eyes.

We cut out our boy and girl shapes with cookie cutters from a large graham cracker. We had no problems with them breaking...but make sure you use a metal cutter. Cut 2 marshmallows to fit the cut out boy and girl shapes like this...

Poke the lollipop stick through both marshmallows. Squeeze out chocolate cookie frosting on one side of the marshmallows. Press them on the back side of the cut out shapes. Frost the other side and press the top graham shapes on top. Let dry.

Decorate with white cookie frosting. We used edible eyes and red candies. Use what you have and let the kids get creative with them!

A Frosty Breakfast!

We watched Frosty the Snowman the other night and thought it would be cute to create him for breakfast. We used 2 poached eggs, turkey bacon, 1 large pancake, powder sugar, and dark grapes.

We poached our eggs in the microwave and flipped them oven on the plate when they were done. We made our pancake on the rounded bottom part of the pan so it would fit on the bottom of the plate. We cut the top with kitchen scissors to look hilly. We made turkey bacon and used 1 strip for a scarf and cut another strip for the hat and arms. We cut a couple of dark grapes to make the buttons and face (you coule just use chocolate chips or raisins). We sifted a little bit of powder sugar on the pancake and sky for the snow.

My boys were bummed out that we forgot his pipe, but we still think he turned out really cute!

Peppermint Penguin Pops!

There are so many things going on this time of year and we love to create short cuts with making fun treats. We thought it would be cute to make penguins from York peppermint patties. We love how they turned out and they were so easy to make! No frosting involved!!

We used York peppermint patties, yellow Starburst, edible eyes, lollipop sticks, and red ribbon.

We just cut a penguin shape out of our peppermint patty with a knife...almost like a heart shape. We attached a thin red ribbon on the top of the lollipop stick and wrapped it around the stick to look like a candy cane. We pushed the patty onto the stick. We put 1 Starburst in the microwave on high for 8 seconds. Just roll it out with a rolling pin or press with your fingers. Cut out the beak and feet with a knife. Just press the beak and feet in the white cut out part of the patty. Press the edible eyes on and that is it! Everything will stick perfectly!

Mini Rudolph Cookies

Here is the last of our Reindeer goodies. We created these cute litte Rudolph cookies using regular and small vanilla wafers, peanut butter, large pretzels, little red candies, and mini chocolate chips.

We just dipped the small vanilla wafer into peanut butter and attached it to the large wafer. We broke our large pretzels to make antlers. We attached everything else with peanut butter.

The perfect fun snack/treat the kids can help make. Great for a class party as well!

I Scream for Rudolph!

We are going Rudolph crazy this week! We spotted this Snow Man Ice Cream from Craft Gossip a couple of weeks ago....

We thought he was so cute and thought it would be fun to make Rudolph Ice Cream. We used chocolate ice cream, 1 cherry, 1 large pretzel, and edible eyes (you could use chocolate chips).

Just scoop out the ice cream in a bowl. Break the pretzel to make antlers. Add the cherry nose, eye balls, and pretzel antlers. You just can't get any easier than this!

Tip...make them ahead of time and pop them in the freezer. This way you can just pull them out and serve them up!

Rudolph Pancake Breakfast!

Here is another fun Rudulph that we created for breakfast the other morning. We used pancake mix, 2 strips of turkey bacon, whipped cream spray (or a marshmallow), 2 chocolate chips, and 1 strawberry.

We made a large pancake for Rudolph's head, and a smaller pancake for his nose. Cut around any uneven edges with kitchen scissors. Save the scraps to cut out his ears. Cut the tip off of a strawberry to make his red nose. Make the bacon and cut the strips in half to make the antlers. Spray on the whipped cream for the eyes and then put on the chocolate chips for the pupils.

This is SO easy and the kids will love it!

Rudolph the Red Nose S'mores Pop!

I think it's pretty obvious at this point that S'mores Pops are my boys favorite. They always ask for them so we try to think up new ways to make them fun. We decided to make these Rudolph S'mores Pops last week and we loved how cute they turned out to be!

We used graham crackers, jumbo marshmallows, chocolate cookie frosting, red candies, edible eyes, pretzels, and lollipops sticks.

We broke the long graham crackers in half. We cut out 2 different size circles with round cookie cutters. We had no problem at all with any of it breaking. Save the scraps to make the ears. Cut a jumbo marshmallow in half. Poke the stick through the marshmallow half. Squeeze chocolate cookie frosting on one side of the marshmallow. Press it down on one of the cut out circle graham crackers. Squeeze the cookie frosting on the top side of the marshmallow and press the other graham cracker round on top of that. Let it dry.

We cut out the ears from the edges of the graham cracker scraps. Attach them with the cookie frosting on the back side of the top round graham cracker. We broke our large pretzels to look like antlers. Attach them with cookie frosting on the back side of the round graham cracker.

Attach the smaller circle graham cracker cut out on top of the larger round cut out to make the nose with cookie frosting. Let that dry. Attach a red candy on top for the red nose. Attach the edible eyes with cookie frosting.

These Reindeer S'more Cookies were so fun and easy to make! I am sure kids would love these for a class party at school. Here are my happy little boys with their Reindeer Pops...

Christmas Chocolate Pretzel Rods

My 5 year old gets lots of candy canes around Christmas time, but just doesn't like peppermint. He gets bumbed out that he has to give them all away. I know they make different flavors, but he asked if we could come up with our own non peppermint candy sticks. We ended up coming up with these fun chocolate pretzel sticks using things that kids are sure to love! We also loved how easy these are to make. A great treat for a school class Chistmas party!

We used pretzel rods, red and green fruit roll ups (I have only found the green at Walmart), and white chocolate (or white candy coating).

We melted our chocolate in the microwave on high for 30 seconds. Stir it and then put it in every 15 seconds until the is chocolate melted...stirring in between. Be careful not to over heat! We dipped our pretzel sticks and used a spoon to help cover the whole rod. Shake off the extra chocolate and then lay it on wax paper and let it dry.

Roll out the fruit roll ups and lay them on a cutting board. We used a pizza cutter and just cut them into thin strips. Wrap the fruit roll up strips around the chocolate covered rods and that is it!

You're a tasty one, Mr. Grinch!

We thought it would be fun to make the Grinch from a quesadilla. We used 2 spinach tortillas, black beans, shredded cheese, and a piece from a yellow pepper.

We cut out our Grinch head shape from the spinach tortilla using kitchen scissors. Cut 1 and then use that one as a guide for the other one. We added black beans and shredded cheese on the inside of the tortillas and heated that until the cheese melted. I had a yellow pepper that will be used for another recipe so we just cut the eyes out of that. You could just use sour cream if you do not have a yellow pepper. We added cooked black beans to make the pupils, mouth, and nose. We cut out the hair with our spinach tortilla scraps.

Super easy and the boys loved it!!

We made this fun Gift Sandwich with Christmas Tree Chips and it's so simple to make! We used 2 pieces of bread, peanut butter and jelly, 1 red fruit roll up, 1 spinach tortilla, kosher salt, and cooking spray.

We cut our bread into a square. We spread peanut butter & jelly on the inside. We cut our red fruit roll up with kitchen scissors to look like a ribbon and bow. We cut tree shapes out of the spinach tortilla using tree cookie cutters. Place the trees on a cookie sheet and spray both sides with cooking spray. Sprinkle with kosher salt and bake at 350 for 8 minutes (we did 10 min. and ours were just a tad bit over done).

My boys loved this! You could make any kind of sandwich and the tree chips are a great way to get the kids to gobble up some spinach!

Corn Turkey's on a Stick!

We made these turkey's with corn dogs the other night and my boys thought they turned out really cute! We used Morning Star veggie dogs, cheese, pickles, & ketchup.

We cut a slice of american cheese with our kitchen scissors and rounded off the edges to look like feathers (you could use mustard). We added our ketchup under that. We sliced a couple of pickles and added those under the ketchup. We placed our turkey dog under the pickles. We used pickles, cheese, and ketchup to make the face.

This is a fun and simple lunch or dinner for the kids to help out with!

A Pilgrim Lunch!

We created this Pilgrim Lunch the other day and it's so easy to make! We used 2 slices of dark german wheat bread, 1 slice of deli turkey, 1 slice of provolone cheese, 1 raisin, and 1 tie dye fruit roll up.

We cut a circle out of 1 piece of bread for the pilgrims head. Our turkey fit right on top. We cut out the other piece of bread into a hat shape. We cut a strip from our cheese and put that on the hat. We cut out the buckle, hair, and eye brows using the yellow from our multi colored fruit roll up. We cut out the mouth with the red part of the fruit roll up. We cut out two small circles from the cheese for the eyes and cut 1 raisin in half for the pupils.

The kids loved it and it's a fun way to talk with the kids about the Pilgrims!

Fun Finds Friday!

I can't believe that next week is Thanksgiving! We will be having fun at Disney World, but I will actually miss making a big Thanksgiving meal. Give the Gift of S'mores!

We love to make anything out of s'mores and thought it would be cute to make these super easy Gift S'mores Pops! These would be great to take to a school party. It takes no time at all using edible color spray and they turned out so cute!

We used graham crackers, square s'mores marshmallows (you could use large marshmallows cut in half), chocolate cookie frosting, color spray, licorice fruit candy, and lollipop sticks.

Take 2 full graham crackers and lay them onto wax paper. Spray some of the green and red and let dry. Break them apart. Poke lollipop sticks through 2 of the square marshmallows first. Turn the colored graham crackers over and squeeze on some chocolate cookie frosting. Add the marshmallow pops onto the chocolate frosted graham crackers and let dry.

We found this licorice candy at Walgreens called Whip Rips. That is what we used for our ribbon. You could just use Twizzler pull a parts if you can not find the Rips Whips...

Pull out the green and red licorice candies and tie them around the colored graham crackers into a bow. Here is a side view...

Corn on the Cob for Breakfast!

We thought of this fun and easy breakfast a couple of weeks ago. We cut out 2 Eggo waffles with kitchen scissors in the shape of a corn cob. We cut our green grapes in half and added them around the botton and bottom sides to look like a corn husk. That's it!

This is so simple to make and a fun breakfast for the kids to make!!

Gobble Gobble up some Fruit!

We made this fun Fruit Turkey the other day and my boys just loved it! We used 1 green apple, pineapple, manderin oranges, green grapes, dark grapes, edible eyes, 1 cherry, and tooth picks.

We cut the botton off of our apple so it would stand up staight. Save the cut off part to make the wings and head.

We poked 4 tooth picks on the back side of the apple. We cut off pieces of the manderin oranges and pineapple. We added our dark grapes first. Then we added the oranges, green grapes, and pineapple.

We cut out a head and wings with the saved apple slice that we cut off the bottom. We poked a tooth pick in the front towards the top and attached the cut out apple for the head. Attach the eyes, orange nose, and wings with peanut butter. We cut a piece of a cherry for the waddle (you could use a strawberry or fruit roll up). We cut the end of a manderin orange for the feet.

We had a blast making this silly Turkey and it's a great way to get the kids to eat lots of fruit!!

How the Gourd Stole Christmas!

My boys went to Fall Family Fun Days at The Rock Ranch here in Georgia last weekend and came home with a couple of gourds. My 8 year old ran in the house with his gourd and said he wanted to make his into the Grinch. I thought that was such a great idea and that's exactly what we did!

This Grinch Gourd is SO easy to make! We used black and yellow felt and a small/baby santa hat for his.

We cut our eyes out with the yellow felt. We cut the pupils, eye brows, mouth, and nose out with the black felt. I had the felt with the sticky back, but you could attach with glue. You could also even use yarn, foam, or construction paper!

My 5 year old wanted his to have hair so we used green pipe cleaner for his hair. I actually didn't have green pipe cleaner so I sprayed white pipe cleaner with green edible color spray and let that dry. We just bent it to look like his hair and attached it on the top with a little bit of glue.

We put them in a couple of small cups that we had and printed out labels from our computer. The boys got to pick out what they wanted it to say.

I think this idea from my 8 year old is fantastic and they turned out so cute! Here are my boys with their Grinch Gourds...

If you live in GA you should definitely check out The Rock Ranch. The last Fall Fun Days is next Saturday. It is so worth going to and I am pretty sure it's only 12 bucks to get in. Open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. each Saturday, guests will enjoy themed entertainment plus Train Rides, Hay Rides, a Petting Zoo, Zip Lines, Pony Rides, the Pumpkin Cannon, Tiny Town and much more! My boys had a blast!!!

Turkey Turkey Burgers!

We made burgers last night for dinner and thought it would be cute to make actual turkey's out of our turkey burgers.

We cooked our turkey burgers in a pan and then set aside to cool down just a bit. We cut half a slice of cheddar and provolone cheese into feather shapes around the edges. We sliced a pickle and put the slices in the middle of our cheeses. Place the bottom of the bun on the plate and on top of the feathers. Add the turkey burger on top. We used another bottom of a bun to cut out the head and wings with kitchen scissors. Cut out pieces of scrap provolone cheese for the eyes (we used a very small round cutter). Cut out the beak and feet from the scrap cheddar cheese. We cut the tips off of the pickle for the eye balls. Squeeze ketchup on for the waddle.

The kids will have fun making their own turkey burgers! There are so many other things you could use for the feathers like...green beans, carrots, sweet potato fries, mustard, ketchup, etc...

Gobble Gobble S'mores Pops!

We make a lot of s'mores in this house...even turkey s'mores! You will see a lot of s'mores pops on our blog. My boys just love them! We tried to stick with as many s'mores ingredients as possible so we even made the feathers with marshmallows. There are so many other fun things you could use in place of cutting the marshmallow. However, it's very easy to do!

We used graham crackers, jumbo marshmallows, colored sprinkles, chocolate and white cookie frosting, milk duds, and gum drops.

We cut our graham cracker into a circle with a round cookie cutter. I thought they would break, but it cut right through without a problem...

We cut our jumbo marshmallows in half. It fits perfect on the graham cracker...

Poke the marshmallow on the stick. Add the chocolate cookie frosting on both sides of the marshmallow and press in between the graham crackers. Set it aside to dry. Cut another jumbo marshmallow into strips for the feathers like this...

We had small bowls of differert colored sprinkles and pressed the sticky side of our marshmallow strips in the sprinkles. We glued our feathers on the back side of the marshmallow with white cookie frosting. We cut up a orange gum drop for the feet and beak. We cut a red gum drop for the wattle under his nose. We ran out of edible eyes so we used white and chocolate cookie frosting to make the eyes. We have a ton of milk duds from left over Halloween candy so we attached those onto the graham cracker for the head with our chocolate cookie frosting. Any round chocolate candy would work.

My boys loved them! These would be great for a school party. The boys ran around with them and they stay put!

Fallen Leaves Snack

This is a great after school snack to make this time of year! I just love seeing all the leaves falling and my boys love playing in them!

We used 2 large pretzel sticks for the tree trunk. We used regular pretzel sticks for the branches. We added golden raisins and dried cranberries for the leaves.

Such a simple and quick snack to make and my boys thought it turned out super cool!

Pac-Man Snack

This Pac Man snack is so simple to make using Babybel cheese and my kids got a kick out of it! We just pulled off the wax with the string that is attached to it and used kitchen scissors to shape the cheese. You won't need to do anything with the wax...it already has the Pacman shape. We pressed edible eyes on the cheese and that's it!

A Flower Pot Breakfast!

We had so much fun making all of our Halloween goodies, but we thought it was time to share something a bit more cheerful! We made this Flower Pot breakfast awhile back and it's so simple to make!

We used pancake mix, 3 strawberries, 1 beaten eggs, and a few green grapes.

We poured our pancake mix in the pan and shaped a flower pot. Just trim off the edges to clean it up with kitchen scissors. Cut the grapes in half to make a stem. Microwave the beaten eggs in a small round dish. Place it on the plate. Cut the strawberries in half and place them around the egg to make the pedals.

We hope that everyone had a fun and safe Halloween!

Jack-O-Fiesta!

We made this fun and easy Jack-O-Latern Quesadilla a few weeks ago for dinner and my boys loved it! It's a great way to get the kids to load up on some black beans.

We used 2 orange veggie tortillas, shredded cheese, black beans, and just a small piece of a spinach tortilla for the stem(you could use avocado or anything really).

We melted some shredded cheese in between the tortillas in the microwave for 1 minute. Heat about a half a cup or more of black beans and add those for the eyes, nose, and mouth. Cut off a piece or a spinach or regular tortilla for the stem.

A Pumpkin Lunch!

This is the last Halloween lunch that we made that was featured in New Jersery Family magazine. Super easy!

Jack o’ lantern Sandwich...

1 slice of dark German wheat bread
2 slices of cheddar cheese (or American)
1 slice of turkey (optional)
2 green grapes

Cut the bread into a circle. Top with turkey and
cheese (you may have to use 2 pieces) to fit
the bread; cut out eyes and a mouth for a pumpkin
face. Place grapes on top for the stem.

Pumpkin Shaped Tortilla Chips...

Preheat oven to 350°. Cut tortillas into pumpkin shapes with pumpkin cookie cutters. Place your pumpkin shapes on a cookie sheet and spray with cooking spray. Flip them over and spray the other side. Bake about 10 minutes, turning after 5 minutes, then sprinkle with kosher salt. My boys love these!!

HOO HOO Wants Breakfast??

We made this fun Owl Breakfast awhile back using pancakes, a clementine, whipped cream, and 1 dark grape.

We shaped our pancakes in the pan with our pancake mix into the owl body and wings. We cut around the edges with kitchen scissors to clean it up and placed it on the plate. We used pieces of clemtine for the feet and nose. We sprayed whipped cream on for the eyes and cut 1 dark grape for the pupils.

This is so easy and a fun breakfast to make with the kids!

Spider Man Party!

My older son had a birthday this past weekend and wanted a Spider Man party. His birthday falls so close to Halloween so we thought would be fun to make all of the party food look like spiders or Spiderman. I am sure Spiderman is the #1 party for boys, but we still tried to come up with original ideas. I was pressed for time so some things look a bit sloppy, but at least you will get a idea.

I had some left over bags of easter egg marshmallows (with a good date of course) and used them for these Spider Man Pops. I just sprayed them with red color spray and added the web with black edible marker. The eyes are black and white cookie frosting. We put them on a pop and these were a definite hit with the kids!

We made this Spider Cheese Ball that turned out pretty cute! We just made a basic ranch cheese ball and shaped a body and a head. We crushed blue tortilla chips and rolled the cheese balls in that to make it black. We made the eyes with cream cheese and cut off the ends of 1 black olive for the pupils. We were going to do large pretzel legs, but the boys wanted black legs. I just grabbed some black pipe cleaners and used those.

We thought it would be fun to make a Spider Man head using 7 layer dip. I don't think ours ended up being 7 layers, but we made the top of it salsa to make it red. We made the eyes and web with sour cream and outlined the eyes with sliced black olives.

We served it with Spooky Chips that we got at World Market...I just love that store!

We made these mini Spider Web Pizzas using english muffins, sauce, and string cheese....

We made Deviled Eggs with a paprika spider on top. I just cut out a small spider that I printed from the computer and used that as a template for the spider. Quick and easy and they turned out pretty cool!

We made these easy Spider Cookies using store bought devil's food cookies. We just piped on legs onto wax paper. We put the cookie in the middle of the legs and let it dry. I had just a few edible eye balls and used those on some. For the other cookies we just piped on white cookie frosting and used mini chocolate chips for the pupils. I thought those looked better. These would look better if I had more time...I was a bit rushed when making these....

We through in some of these Cracker Spider Snacks for the little ones at the party. This was a quick and last minute thing. Kids always have fun making these!

The birthday boy wanted Peter Parker Punch so his Uncle Brian made him a label...

My son also wanted Spider Man jumping from buildings on his cake and this is the best I could come up with not having a guide of some sort. I made the cake in two jelly roll pans lined with parchment paper. I flipped one onto a dish and frosted it. Flipped the other on top of that. I made the buildings out of rice krispie treats. I made green frosting for the grass and gray for the buildings. I used cookie frosting to make the windows. I broke off pieces of graham crackers and frosted them with black cookie frosting to make the roads. I washed a few hot wheel cars to put on the roads. The webs are white chocolate that I piped onto wax paper. We used one of their Spider Man toys for the top.

Here he is and his cake (that the kids had fun playing with)! They grow way too fast!:(

This was a costume party, but my birthday boy was too hot and took his Spider Man costume off. However...his half Robin half Spider Man baby brother had a good time wearing his mask!

Black Bean Soup with Toasted Jack-O-Laterns!

My boys are not fond of any soups. I tried this fun way of getting them to eat black bean soup the other night and it worked! They would have never tried black bean soup if it wasn't for the tortilla shaped pumpkin. Of course I thought of the risk of them just eating the pumpkin tortilla and not taking a bite of soup, but they had to try the soup before they could eat a bite of the tortilla. They ended up loving it and had fun dipping the tortilla in the soup!

We took a veggie orange tortilla and cut a jack-o-latern out of it with a knife and kitchen scissors. Place your bowl on top as a guide. I also had spinach tortillas so we cut a stem out of that. We toasted it just a little.

Here is the recipe I use for black bean soup. I have used this one for years and I think it is by far the best I have tried....

Ingredients
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 large onion, chopped
1 stalk celery, chopped
2 carrots, chopped
4 cloves garlic, chopped
2 tablespoons chili powder
1 tablespoon ground cumin
1 pinch black pepper
4 cups vegetable broth
4 (15 ounce) cans black beans
1 (15 ounce) can whole kernel corn
1 (14.5 ounce) can crushed tomatoes

Directions...

1.Heat oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Saute onion, celery, carrots and garlic for 5 minutes. Season with chili powder, cumin, and black pepper; cook for 1 minute. Stir in vegetable broth, 2 cans of beans, and corn. Bring to a boil.

2.Meanwhile, in a food processor or blender, process remaining 2 cans beans and tomatoes until smooth. Stir into boiling soup mixture, reduce heat to medium, and simmer for 15 minutes.

Pour the soup in a small bowl and place the pumpkin on top.

Give it a try and maybe it will work on your non soup eaters as well!
