Ribbit Ribbit...it's a Frogmelon!

We had a large watermelon and wanted to do something fun with it. We thought about making a shark, but wanted to make something different since we see so many of those. You can check out a really cool version of a watermelon shark here at Sun Scholars.

We decided to go with a frog. This is almost as easy as our Turned Over Turtle Watermelon. We took our large watermelon and cut off the top left and right corners. We did the same for the bottom corners. We wanted to cut off the rounded edge. It just looked more like a frog head that way. This really depends on the type of watermelon you have. Save the cut off pieces for the eyes.

We took a marker and outlined the mouth before cutting. We then cut the mouth out. We decided to make a tongue. If you do this try to cut out a very long piece from the mouth. If it breaks..just secure with a tooth pick. Cut out pieces of watermelon with a scooper and then put the pieces back in the mouth. Add the tongue. We added a blueberry to look like a fly and put it at the end of the tongue. We used white melon scraps for the wings and just poked them in the blueberry.

Take your scraps from the edges and cut two circles out for the eyes. Break a tooth pick in half and secure it in the eyes. Poke the eyes in the top of the watermelon.

We used blueberries for the pupils and nose. Just break tooth picks in half and poke them in with those.
